Three wholesome albums.

Posted by: Blacketh on: December 17, 2007

So thanks to me being sick (wow, what fun), I was stuck at home all week listening to my iPod and basically doing nothing else…which led to a musical rut because I got bored of my music, which led to me trying desperately to find something to listen to, which led to me rediscovering a few favourites. So here we go, three albums that I found were good from beginning to end. Every single track.

Hearts on Parade by American Hi-Fi
I dunno, I really like this album. Every song is unique, but it all blends together very nicely. I especially like a few tracks…like The Everlasting Fall. I’m totally serious, someone needs to sing that song for curtain-closing. It’s the perfect curtain closing song. It’s kind of a mellowy slow kind of song, ish, which is nice when you’re sick and your head hurts.
Still Searching by Senses Fail
Again, this album is pretty good in the fact that all the songs work together, no matter what order they’re played (my iPod’s always on shuffle). Except for the seamless three tracks at the end, but they’re all so awesome they stand by themselves anyway. In fact, one of those tracks, All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues, is one of my favourites. Another is Still Searching =]
Promise in a Compromise by Tokyo Rose
I love Tokyo Rose. Their music is somewhat similar to Senses Fail…but not really. They’re a bit softer…but still so cool. The best part is that their songs are so cool in the fact that you get swept up by the music and you stop thinking about everything else. Unlike some music that completely doing occupy my ADDness at all. My favourite is Can I Change Your Mind?, but the whole point of this entry is to broadcast how every single track on all three of these albums PWN.

Of course, notice how all of these albums are the latest from the bands. Especially in the case of Senses Fail, you can really tell the growth they’re gone through with their music…their EP actually was pretty hard for me to listen to. Their first album got better, and this is their second. I’m so proud of Buddy, the lead singer…he’s finally realised that he has to compose a SONG that can be sang along to, instead of sing a string of words without drawing breath with only major thirds between them! XDDD

Because I’m sick, I’ve also test-driven another album for your listening pleasure…Avenged Sevenfold by…well, by Avenged Sevenfold. Thanks to Snowman, who is obsessed, I have the album. Here is Hoomoo’s ranking of the songs, from best to… … …not so good.
Dear God
Afterlife
Lost
A Little Piece of Heaven
Scream
Critical Acclaim
Almost Easy
Unbound (The Wild Ride)
Brompton Cocktail
Gunslinger
After A Little Piece of Heaven, the tracks start getting less bearable…I can put up with Scream, and Critical Acclaim sometimes…but the rest below that are just…no. I press “next” when they come up XD Avenged Sevenfold went all over the place with this album, dabbling in different genres. For example, Dear God is kind of a ballad, almost country music kind of thing…as Snowman put it, A Little Piece of Heaven is Tim Burton-esque, with lots of orchestral backup music and just the form and style of the song. In any case, the album gets a “bearable” sticker. Which is a lot to say, considering Snowman’s music coughPARISHILTONcough.
