Guilty Pleasure: Rob Thomas
Ok, all of us have at least one guilty pleasure: artists, songs, bands, that we like but are embarrassed to admit. I guess I just publicised mine. Haha. Oh dear.
Rob Thomas PWNs. Let me just say that now. He sings sort of more softy-pop kind of stuff, which is different from what I usually listen to…plus he’s mainstream, which is what I try to avoid. But there must be a /reason/ why he’s so…well liked, I guess. It’s because his songs are so sentimental. Catchy. He’s such a sweet guy.
Point 1: his song about always being there that sounds like something from the Muppets? He wrote it for his wife, who had cancer at the time, telling her that no matter what, he’d always be there to share her triumphs, her sorrows, her weaknesses. So sweeeeet. Isn’t that the nicest thing to do for someone who’s going through one of the worst possible things that can happen to a person?
Point 2: his most recent song, “Little Wonders”, currently at about number six in the country, is such a…I dunno, such a nice song. Nice is the worst word in English because it’s not descriptive at all and ambiguous, but I really can’t think of another way to put it. He was going through some hard times with his family when he was out walking his dog and looked up at the stars. Such a overdone, romantic place to find inspiration. Awwwwwh n__n
I realise he has no other talent but music. And his music might not even be partially from his talent…in the age of electrical stuff, anything can happen. But I admire him for not letting his lack of skillages take him down anyway. When asked what he would do besides music, he said he can’t really see himself doing anything else (translation: he can’t do anything else), but if he really had to pick, he’d be a flower delivery guy because he would make many people happy, just showing up at their front doors and delivering flowers. Awh @@ Not even you know…a pizza guy. A flower guy…and that’s what makes him so sweet…he’s always doing things that are romantically cheesy, but you have to love him for it anyway =]
